In fact power and its accumulation is the vice which enables all others. Compulsive habits that lead to self harm are classified as addictions. By following the tropes of history America has become addicted to violence.

In this way my country parallels dysfunction I’ve personally witnessed. We are suicidal culturally, collectively and increasingly individually. The truths about personal character I learned growing up are being ignored. I’ve attempted to retain the dignity of my values in the face of constant coercion.

I’ve also stumbled and retreated, exploring the different ways to survive this world. But we can thrive if we show the courage to live honestly. As admonished by a clown, the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. As witnessed by all families, love is the foundation for any lasting relationship. I don’t propose solutions,

merely questions which I’ve first turned on myself. These are the answers to who I am. May we find in them the seeds to who we are. And more importantly, who we can be. If I err tell me but where. And then let us all grow in love and wisdom together.
